The Climbing

This trip allows a little bolt clipping practice for those going to Sardinia and an example of what you're missing if you're not. Portland in recent years has become known in the climbing community as Britain's premier sport climbing venue. The 6 km of cliffs encircling the Isle have been developed with hundreds of well bolted routes across the grade range, in a beautiful sea cliff setting with short walk-ins and few tide and access problems. It is the closest thing that Britain has to a year round climbing venue with an axceptionally mild climate and very high sunshine factor. The major cliffs are: Blacknor South (63 routes between 2 and 7b), Cheyne Wears (74 routes between 3 and 7c+) and The Cuttings (82 routes between 2+ and 8a).
